Gusset’s wide span all-rounder pipe is a superb value choice if you’re after a maximum leverage front end. At 317g it adds weight to your bike, but it’s not too heavy for its 30in width. It’s also well priced for a butted, shot-peened and heat-treated 7000 series alloy bar.
There are no trim lines, but the offset Plimsoll line in the centre makes symmetrical aligning easy and there are colour-coding options too. Gusset’s robust reputation is also backed by a two-year warranty for downhill and freeride use.
The bar has a friendly feel on the bike, with enough spring in the tips to reduce finger buzz and arm pump on long rocky descents. A reduced sweep to compensate for the extra width means it doesn’t lighten the steering too much so you can still get forward and attack the trail. Its width deflection scores on our test rig were decent too.
