"Well designed all-weather flat pedals but not cheap"

Straitline are a Canadian company newly making inroads in to the UK, and with a background in precision engineering that's clearly visible in their current product range. The Straitline pedals are sleek-looking, low-profile numbers with some great features.

Made from custom-extruded aluminium alloy to ensure a high strength-to-weight ratio (the version with a chromoly steel spindle weighs 518g a pair, while the titanium spindle model is 450g), the pedals provide very secure and stable sized platforms for the feet and use 14 stainless steel pins on each side of each pedal to prevent any slippage. The slanted profile, with chamfered edges, allows for easy engagement of foot-to-pedal after a dab and makes repositioning less hassle.

The ample sized gaps within the pedal cage enable mud to squeeze its way through without interfering with grip, and the widely spaced polymer bearings not only ensure a smooth, flex-free, maintenance-free action but also offer a degree of water resistance thanks to the double seal. As well as there been a choice between chromoly and titanium spindles, there are several colour options, including pink, so the Straitline pedals should always be up there with the best.

We set out to design a superior pedal, and we delivered! Our pedals are produced from a custom extruded aluminum alloy, to provide a very high strength-to-weight ratio. We machine them to exacting standards to improve both the feel and the life expectancy of the bearings. We cut no corners, or should I say we cut all corners. All edges are chamfered to allow mud to push through more easily, as well as adding to the outstanding aesthetics. The spindles ride in widely spaced proprietary polymer bearings that not only weigh less, but run smoother, quieter, and longer than typical bearings. The bearings require no lube, are impervious to water, and are double-sealed at both ends to prevent dust from infiltrating. Our pedals are also very low profile. This, combined with the forward leaning design, provide a very stable and efficient pedalling platform!
