Look's KéO pedal range starts off at the more modest price of £40 for the KéO Classic, which came recommend in our last pedals test (C 181). As the price ascends, lighter, more exotic materials make an appearance and the bearing quality improves. The KéO Carbon is undoubtedly aimed at racers and weight watchers. The chromoly axle comes with a lifetime warranty and this Carbon version is probably the best mix of performance, weight and price for the serious rider and racer. Spring tension is adjustable and the redesigned axle features three smooth-running bearings; the cheaper, more basic KéO Classic gets two bearings. The smaller KéO cleat sits lower (by 6mm) than the older Delta cleat, but is just as slippery to walk on. Different cleats are available with a choice of fixed, 4.5° or 9° of float. Performance is typically Look: smooth, reliable and secure. You feel just as comfortable stomping down for power as you do pulling up for it.
