Power Pedals

It has been some time since these Swiss made pedals were on sale, but they were in our opinion a successful attempt at increasing the amount of leverage that the rider exerts on the cranks.

The mechanism works in much the same way that a freehub or freewheel mechanism works in that it drives (and turns) in only one direction.

The mechanism is built on the heavy side to resist upwards movement - a considerable 680g per pair including very rigid bronze cleats.

In use there is a perceptible advantage in the starting effort of a pursuit race or time trial but the jury's still out on whether this is negated by their weight and they can feel ungainly when cornering.
