Versatile pedals that give you the best of both worlds

Time's new road pedals come with a cleat-retaining mechanism on one side and a platform on the other so you can cycle comfortably whether you want to clip in or not.

Handy for cycling in traffic or racing cyclo-cross if you want to get your feet down in a hurry, or if you sometimes ride in everyday shoes without cleats fitted.

Our pair weighed 382g which is pretty light for pedals of this kind, the aluminium bodies are built to last and the chromed steel axles spin super-smoothly on well sealed bearings.

Time’s ATAC cleat retention system, the design used on its mountain bike pedals, allows you loads of foot movement – five degrees of float in each direction plus 5mm of lateral movement.

This is good news if you have temperamental knees. Just make sure your shoes have the correct two-bolt drilling for the cleats, which you need to buy separately.

The platforms come with co-moulded elastomer studs that provide plenty of grip, though ours started to wear fairly quickly so it’s a good job you get a spare set as part of the package.
