Time Z XX pedal review

With a cool camo graphic (it says here) but it looks rather, er, beige to us. Anyway what you do get is the classic Time mechanism inside a massive chunky aluminium platform.

Classic Time design inside a chunky aluminium platform

This pedal has a cool camo graphic (it says here) but it looks rather, er, beige to us. Anyway, what you do get is the classic Time mechanism inside a massive chunky aluminium platform. There's no tension adjust as foot retention is independent from spring tension. They can be a little tricky to clip in merely because there's so much pedal to navigate your foot around to find the bars. The platform is near on 4in by 3in, and once there you have to make a positive toe-down move to engage rather than let the rotation of the pedal do that for you, but it soon becomes instinctive. Time's famous consistency in all trail conditions is still there, and the teeny downside is that they're a little uncomfy to ride in with normal shoes as the bars dig in, no biggy.
