light, comfy, holds up well to XC abuse. Good value for money on an XC bike. For in town, I think it's too nice to commute on, too desirable. That's why I have a 15 year old brooks saddle on the commuter

Pretty obvious, but try before you buy if you can. I opted for this saddle due to rave reviews and even after breaking the saddle in it proved very uncomfortable. Interestingly the durability was not that great, the leather after a year was wearing away under the nose, and some of the stitching on the seat failed. It is still a good product but I could not see how it would last beyond 3 years, in comparison my 6year + old WTB Rocket just keeps on going.

I was forced to replace my saddle on my S-Works Stumpy after breaking the Fizik Arione I used the night before a race.
I now wonder why it took me so long to get the MTB version on my bike. With no previous riding I had to go 2 days of racing 100miles in total on this back to back, it felt comfortable from the word go and never gave me any trouble.
All I can say is saddles are very individual - the old saying I know - but the Gobi XM is simply the best Fizik ever made - in my opinion and my @ss feels the same :-)

I have no idea if the 'wing flex' does anything, but I find this superbly comfortable, as do I the Arione and Aliante on my other bikes. I've been a long-time fan of the SDG Bel-Air. However, I've never got on with the WTB Rocket, unlike surreyxc. So, as he/she says, try before you buy

Gotta agree whole heartedly with surreyxc about the durability. I've got wear in exactly the same places on my saddle. Fizik gave me the bull s***t excuse that it was only meant for off road work and my commuting 20 miles a week here and there had accelerated wear 'so fk off basically'. After 18 months mine is practically ready for the bin. Which at this price is a disgrace in my opinion.

I always feel like I am hanging off the back of mine because of it`s funny shape. After 17 months a rail snapped but fizix repared it in Italy. The rest of the saddle is as good as new though.

I've used this saddle on various MTB's over the last 2/3years and has been very comfortable. Mine is still going strong, though I don't have an MTB at the mo, I've tried on the singlespeed road bike. I used it for 1 ride and went back to my Selle Italia SLR.
I love this for MTB but rubbish on Road...very strange.

Recently retro-fitted my Stumpjumper Expert with the Gobi XM. I have nothing but praise for this great saddle. Comfy as from the outset, the Gobi allows for greater leg movement than other saddles I have used meaning you can pedal with ease and go harder! Brillant! Thanks Fizik.

After seven months of usage, numerous adjustments, plus lots of riding I still find the saddle as utterly uncomfortable. I think it's more of individual anatomy sort of thing rather than bad design. I have no comment on durability except to see the label faded off after a couple of months.
