Don’t be fooled by the freeride looks, this is for putting the power down

The SLR Check-It is the product of a collaboration between venerable saddle makers Selle Italia – founded in 1897 – and popular purveyors of eye-catching race garb Troy Lee Designs. Selle Italia create the saddles while Troy Lee supply the graphics.

In the case of the Check-It, you get a distinctive radial chequerboard pattern that, if nothing else, saves you from having to choose between a white or black seat. Colour aside, the SLR is definitely positioned at the racier end of the saddle spectrum.

With a long, narrow shell and firm padding, this isn’t one for the casual or occasional rider. A carbon-reinforced shell and vanadium alloy rails add up to a light saddle – the SLR Check-It weighs in at 183g – but you’re paying a premium for it.
