Velo Senso Miles Saddle Review - BikeRadar

If you ride a bike then chances are at some point you will have sat upon a Velo saddle. Velo make in excess of 15 million saddles a year for pretty much any brand you can think of.

The Senso range is the company’s latest high-end line, in which you’ll find saddles for racing, touring, mountain biking, BMX, commuting and more.

The Miles sits just below the titanium-railed range topper, the MilesR. Weight wise it’s a very competitive 191g (the titanium-railed version comes in only 5g lighter) and the shape is reminiscent of similar saddles from ProLogo and SDG, among others.

The Miles features a patented Arc rail fitting which allows the hull to flex more than is typical to aid comfort, but also means padding – and weight – can be kept to a minimum (a special high density but lightweight foam padding is used).

Regardless of the science of the design, what we can say is that it felt comfortable over many hours in the saddle and hundreds of miles.

The shape definitely helps with this, with the central passage nicely sculpted to relieve pressures on the sensitive areas.

The cover is a synthetic, UV-resistant material, designed to stop the cover suffering from sun damage and cracking with age.

Having not seen much of the sun since October, this is a tricky one to confirm, but the Miles is certainly hardwearing: the coating of road grime and grit it’s received has had no negative effect.

The saddle market is a pretty congested one, so for a new range to do well it has to be good, and with this model we reckon Velo has got it spot on.

So if you’re looking for something understated, light and comfortable, and at a great price, the Velo Senso Miles would be a very good choice.
