DMR recently struck a deal with Macneil Components to make this simple and strong set-up. Saddle rails always flex, so removing them from the equation eliminates that.

The simple, single 8mm allen bolt that holds the seat to the post allows virtually any angle you require - although the seat can't be moved fore and aft (not something that will bother most fit it and forget riders).

The post is available in 26.8 and 27.2mm sizes, which fit most steel hardtail frames out there, and the seat is finished off with tough Kevlar edging to resist scuffing.
