Specialized Bicycles Comp Road Stem | $2700
BikeRadar verdict
"Adjustable rise rigid stem that's a good compromise choice for limited changes"
Adjustable stems are expensive and heavy, while fixed stems offer only one position (or two if you flip them); but this system from Specialized is a useful middle ground.
The stem itself comes in 12-degree and 24-degree variants, and shims are supplied to adjust the angle. The 12-degree version has a total of ten degrees of adjustment, while the 24-degree has five. Combine that with a selection of spacers and you get a pretty wide range of positions.
Other than that it's a pretty standard aluminium tubular design, weighing in at a middling 172g. The shim and clamp hold very firm to the steerer, and there's a four-bolt clamp for oversize bars. The clean design would suit a mountain bike, city or road bike, and it's an excellent choice if you want to experiment with (limited) positional changes without the expense of an adjustable stem.
It's available in 75mm, 90mm, 100mm, 110mm 120mm and 130mm lengths.
