Race Face Diabolus D2 Stem | $77
BikeRadar verdict
"An incredibly stiff and strong BMX-style stem for your mountain bike"
The D2 is the freeride version of the Diabolus downhill stem and, as with the sport, the stem shows a definite BMX influence.
Available in 35, 50 or 70mm versions, all CNC-machined from a solid chunk of 6061 aluminium, the stem cradles the bars, with a top clamp rather than the usual front-loading affair.
This helps avoid any stress risers in the bar, usually caused by the gap between the stem and front clamp. The unit is also incredibly strong, backed up by Race Face’s lifetime warranty, which should please you if you’ve just dropped £85 on a stem.
