"Great value, well proven, lightweight race stem. "

Smica have been quietly turning out their impressively light and top value stems for a while - ones like this in fact.

The forged design is very neat with nice detailing such as diagonal rear slot and increased wall thickness around the bolt receivers, plus two separate clamping bands rather than a single front plate.

It has a more tapered (though still stepped) transition from steerer clamp to shaft than many similar stems yet it's still one of the lightest here.
We've used various examples for years too, and while they flex noticeably we've never had fracture or failure problems even when hammering them. The logo is grey rather than the old light blue so that should suit a lot more bikes as well.

Very light, stiff and suprisingly well-made. It certainly doesn't look out of place on my three grand racing bike (albeit I 'blinged' mine a bit more by changing the stock bolts for titanium ones). Put simply I don't know of anything else on the market which compares for this price.

Oh, and dont worry about the above photo showing the stickers falling off - they've made the logo far more permanent; in fact I deliberately tried to remove it when I first got the stem as I wanted to put my frame-maker's logo on there. To cut a long story short, I couldn't budge it.
