A whole new family in the Conti line up, the Edge, Slash and Digga are all based around a modern take on the classic paddle tread. The transverse bars certainly come into their own in the really liquid, gloopy conditions of 'Slurry Alley' as they paddle out of anything.

Small multi-angle side studs mean they grip pretty well when leaned into corners and contouring off-camber sections, and they clean mud out fast too. The raised paddle bars and a fairly hard compound make them liable to shear off sideways dramatically if you put too much load through them on roots or wet rocks.

This meant several dabs and re-tries through 'Wet Wood' and 'Rocky Horror'. The skinny carcass of the Edge also makes it pinch prone while a very tight bead meant we struggled replacing the tube without levers.

Despite being noisy on the road they feel very fast off it and their inline drive means they make a good rear tyre for general winter terrain rather than more technical trails.
