Continental's tyres have always been popular among the speed set, with its hybrid speed line coming in a full range of sizes, from 2.1in to 2.5in.

The Leader Pro 2.1 is an interesting beast, in that you need to understand its quirks to get the most out of it. It's fast, but not quite as quick as some of the tures with which it competes. The grip is rather erratic, depending entirely on where the ground surface is in relation to the big lateral paddle bars and small low knobs. These features also mean they can spit sideways without warning, particularly if it's damp or rooty or you're braking or driving hard. Rocky terrain tends to rip the strips off quickly, too.

They're impressively grippy once you've got them banked over hard, though, and the Protection carcass is very durable in rocky terrain. Conti's always seem more prone to thorn punctures than other tyres though.
