Designed for long, technical treks, the ExiWolf's are a supremely comfy tyre. The tread is a beefed-up version of the classic summer 'small paddle' design and gives good straightline traction in loose conditions. In addition, the 60 compound rubber sticks nicely on rocks.
The rounded profile also makes it a joy to roll over into corners, where tall reinforced shoulder knobs dig in well - particularly on grassy courses. Saying that, the lateral knob layout means it can spit sideways suddenly if overloaded under braking or climbing. Also, while it's okay in wet, slippy conditions, it clogs with stickier mud. Taller knobs also slow it down on the trail and the 2.1in version is not particularly light either.
The Exi Wolf slips on and off easily for fast, flat changing, and overall it's always proved a durable trouble-free tyre. Price is fair too, although the soft-ish compound doesn't last that long.
