Specialized Turbo Pro road tyre review
BikeRadar verdict
"Soft, supple and grippy, and good value too"
Shopping partners
Having made quite a splash with their excellent 25mm+ Roubaix tyre – a large diameter tyre that’s fast-rolling as well as comfortable – Specialized have produced the Turbo Pro, which shares the gummy soft compound of the Roubaix but in a more traditional 23mm width.
The Turbo Pro’s sidewalls are fairly shallow and it has a much rounder profile than some of the competition. The central strip is a softer compound than the shoulders, making the contact patch grippy in the dry, while the stiffer shoulder helps the carcass resist deforming. It also offers a great deal of comfort, giving the impression of a bigger volume tyre.
It’s recommended that you run the Turbo between 115-125psi; we found 120 was perfect – at 125psi it starts to feel hard, and at 115psi the occasional pothole hit led to snakebite punctures. Our Turbo Pro weighed 200g, and it’s available in black/red, black/grey and black/white.
