Vittoria Rubino Pro | $29.42
BikeRadar verdict
"Both supple and fast; among the quickest 26in tyres available"
The Vittoria Rubino Pro Slick is lightweight and completely slick, which is better for grip on tarmac because that puts more rubber in contact with the road – and because bikes don’t aquaplane in the wet.
Puncture resistance from the nylon breaker strip is good rather than great, but the trade-off in speed will be worth it for many.
This is a road training tyre that happens to be available for mountain bikes too. Few 26in tyres – Continental’s Ultra Gatorskin and Specialized’s Fat Boy are two – can keep pace.
