Quad AM 2.7 Wheelset
BikeRadar verdict
"Tough rims, multi-axle/Maxle-compatible, but a bit heavy for the money"
Quad’s brakes have already proven great for their price and now they’re getting rolling with a range of quality wheels. The 2.7 rims are similar to other deep V sets, which is no bad thing in terms of toughness, and they give useful extra width to tyres up to 2.4in.
The build quality seems good, with no wobble or soft spokes once the initial settling noise had passed. They aren’t particuarly light or sprightly though.
We’ve had no problems with the sealed bearing hubs so far, although the finishing – particularly round the disc threads – could be better.
Inexpensive conversion kits (front quick-release is £12.99, rear quick-release £14.99) are also available if the standard 20mm front/12mm rear set up doesn’t suit your tastes.
