Novatec Blast Wheelset (09) | $622.24
BikeRadar verdict
"Longer than average lifespan makes these good looking ready-mades a decent option"
Joytech are one of the biggest Far Eastern wheel manufacturers, and Novatec is their upmarket brand.
The Blast uses an alloy rim – not the 2X2 model’s carbon hybrid – and 24 Sapim Race straight-pull spokes keep weight light, if not exceptional, for a cross-country setup.
The Polyax locking nipples keep the wheel tighter and truer than we would expect for a reduced spoke wheel.
Add a firm connection from the broad alloy bodied hubs and there’s feedback and accuracy to play with on the trail, though we’d be wary of punishing them. Smooth Japanese cartridge bearings with metal contact seals provide a nice finish.

User review of Novatec Blast Wheelset (09)
I have been using a pair of the Blast wheels for nearly a year and a half now. They have proven very robust and durable, with no problems encountered so far. I think they are a very smart looking wheel and I have raced and ridden them through winter and summer conditions. They clean up easily and I have had a lot of riders ask me about them at various venues. I would therefore highly recommend them (they now have a UK importer as well).

not actually got the wheels, but have the hubs for over a year now. Ride around 300km per week over some very rocky terrain, and they've held up lovely.
