The Condor Uno wheelset is designed specifically for fixed-wheel and singlespeed bikes.
This wheelset features Condor branded hubs (the rear a standard flip-flop so you can convert from fixed to freewheel), with large flanges and sealed cartridge bearings. These are very well finished items that are available in 32 or 36-hole options. The rims are European made and are available with a machined braking surface or non-brake design for track use.
When ordering from Condor, the wheels are available in any configuration, from a mix of black or white rims and black or silver hubs for £150, or in white, blue, red, gold or silver hubs for an additional £35. Once you’ve decided on your colourway and spoke count, the wheels are then handbuilt at Condor to order.
In use, the Unos have proved hardwearing and resilient to all the abuse that poor road surfaces have thrown at them, with a build that is pleasingly on the tight and stiff side. The hub's sealed bearings have remained clean from dirt and smooth running, only requiring the occasional wipe over and regular checks. There’s nothing out of the ordinary here.
Compared to our favourite off-the-peg flip-flop wheelset, the Halo Aerorage, the Uno is very much on a par in both quality and build. The main difference is in terms of weight. The Unos are slightly heavier, by about 40g, due to the Halo's lighter hubs – the Unos weigh in at 990g front, 1080g rear.
Overall the Uno is a great wheelset and extremely well put together. The standard price of £150 is very competitive, and we like the fact that there are two spoke count options. Having the choice of so many colours is a bonus too, although having to pay an extra £35 for the privilege isn’t quite so great.
