Bontrager Rhythm Elite TLR Disc (08) | $499.99
BikeRadar verdict
"Slightly flexy, but resilient, responsive and usefully broad trail wheels at a good price "
Bontrager’s Rhythm Elites were among the first light-but-broad wheels around and they’re still great trail wheels for smoother riders. At the price asked they’re very svelte, particularly considering you get a proper tyre-fattening 28mm rim round the outside.
It’s got an optional tubeless-ready rim strip and valve included, which is a bonus for low pressure fans.
Twenty-eight spokes take up the strain and while there’s a bit of flex when you’re braking or cornering hard, we’ve yet to put them out of shape permanently, even on tough stuff.
DT Swiss hubs provide durable, smooth-spinning centres to the Rhythms. The bearings and freehub are lasting well on our long-term set despite drownings and take up is positive for quick acceleration.
The front hub will run quick releases or 20mm spacers.
They even come in a 29er version should you desire, and there's a heavier 'Comp' version.
