Halo’s SAS wheels have always been the strongest around, but the hubs didn’t always last as long. Now distributors Ison have responded and the new Pro rear hub is great.

The 36mm-wide double-eyelet, double-jointed SAS Combat rim is monster heavy but it’s close to indestructible. The 36-plain-gauge-spoke, quick-release version is tight and true enough for most, but there’s a 48-spoke solid rear axle option for utter hooligans.

It’s the new tougher, faster-reacting Pro freehub that’s the real bonus here though, performing as well as rear hubs that cost more than this whole wheelset.

The SAS Pro comes in 20in and 24in rim and 150mm rear hub versions, and the front hub is switchable between quick-release and 20mm axles.
