Since it started six years ago, On-One has created some superbly innovative and shockingly good-value frames. We reckon its standard Inbred is the best singlespeed bike you can buy in terms of practical performance for the price.

The stretched top tube gives plenty of room to heave round stalling gears, and there’s massive mud clearance from the distinctive penetrated pipe wishbone.

A short stem and 100-130mm travel fork-ready geometry create an instantly engaging and con?dent ride, with a cracking balance of surefooted con?dence and insolent spark.

The same layout and geometry is used for this limited-edition sixth birthday special, built with Reynolds 853 maintubes (like the original Inbreds) instead of the standard ‘DN6’ cromo steel. It costs more, but it weighs roughly half a pound less. The 853 is

a fundamentally stiffer steel set than cromo, too, so the whole ride feel is crisper and more responsive.

There are no gear hangers or cable guides, so it’s a totally pure, permanent singlespeed with sliding CNC dropout sections for chain tensioning. Despite the low price, welding and alignments are immaculate throughout, and while the headbadge is a sticker you do get ‘proper’ cable guides and some neat gusset reinforcement.
