Giro Rift Helmet

BikeRadar verdict

4 out of 5 stars

"Tough lines and great security at a really competitive price"

By Jenn Hopkins

The Rift has decent head coverage and a well positioned peak, but it feels heavy and the shortage of side vents can make your head hot. Worth considering if pointy lines don’t appeal and you want a more subtle lid.

Those stumpy looks are a nod towards the tougher lines of the higher-priced Giro Xen. There’s a shortage of vents on the sides, making things toasty in warm weather. It’s on the heavy side, too, although coverage feels substantial, particularly over the back of the head.

Cam-lock buckles are easy to adjust and the peak sits well out of the way, improving visibility without affecting protection. We failed to make the Acu-Dial adjuster work satisfactorily with one hand, but using two is no big deal if it gets the universal fit dialled in.
