MET Veleno D Helmet | $199.95
BikeRadar verdict
"Icy cool, secure and svelte with a slender price tag to go with it."
The Veleno D brings great ventilation and a comfy, secure fit to the head protection table. It's one for seekers after function and value but its looks divide opinion and its pads could be more supportive.
With its chunky front section and distinctive rear fins, the Veleno is not the most streamlined of lids, with aggressive styling that’s very much a matter of personal taste.
The pads are on the slender side and offer little in the way of support; they wick well, but could do with being more substantial, particularly at the brow.
Those quibbles aside, it offers really fabulous value in two sizes and feels much more pricey than it is. Twenty substantial and swoopy vents keep the air moving on through even at low speeds; in a breeze it’s positively Baltic.
Fit is really solid, with the wrap-around band holding everything steady no matter how rough the trail gets. MET’s close attention to detail shows through in the top-quality harness, with its snap-lock buckles for ease of adjustment and captive strap ends to avoid irritation.
