Leatt Moto GPX Club Neckbrace | $399.99
BikeRadar verdict
"Comfortable, functional and confidence inspiring. Definitely worth the investment"
The progression of downhill has resulted in the speed and danger of the sport increasing. In a bid to lessen serious, life-altering damage to the neck, Leatt have developed this unusual looking bit of kit.
The Moto GPX Club neck brace acts as a crumple zone, dissipating the force of the impact and bringing the head to a ‘controlled stop’. It’s also designed to prevent extreme forward, rearward and sideways head movement.
It’s made from glass reinforced nylon and weighs in at just 850g. The optional X-Strap is a worthy addition to keep everything solid and adds little weight.
When riding, you can forget you’re wearing it thanks to the good fit and comfortable padding. You’re only reminded it’s on at the bottom of the trail as you try to catch your breath, because of how the X-strap sits across the chest. Not exactly something to moan about when you consider what this item could do for you.
The Leatt-Brace Moto GPX Club can be worn with body armour, but make sure the shoulder pads have room to move without interfering with the brace. The inaugural ride may require a few easy adjustments and it might take a little getting used to, but it doesn’t impair your riding, and it could save your life.
