These five brushes do a good job of getting the gunge out of every nook and cranny of your bike, from the space between the sprockets to the back of your brakes. The gentle Soft Washing Brush is kinder on your paintwork than a washing-up brush and the Claw Brush is useful for getting road crud out of your gears.

The rubber handles make them easy to grip and the edging around the heads stops them scraping your paint. It can be hard to get grease out of the fine bristles, though. Bought separately, they’d cost almost £24 and you wouldn’t get the useful mesh bag to keep them in.

  • A 50p, six month old, retired washing up brush from Ikea, a bit of car shampoo/Fairy liquid and a J-cloth cleans my bike, has never stratched it, and leaves it shining!

    ...a fool and their money and all that.

  • 5 bucks for a mesh bag then! Old tooth brush, old washing up brush etc etc......

    Ever heard of Tesco? I purchased a rubber handled dust pan and brush (soft), rubber handled washing up brush (hard), rubber handled bottle cleaning brush (flexy and narrow) and sponge (spongey) for £2.00. I could have purchased the optional carry case (bucket) for another £1.00, but luckily the standard (plastic bag) was free.

  • Yup, I'm using a £1 general use brush from local 'sell everything' corner store. Doesn't scratch the frame as I've used bike shield anyway. I do have a claw brush though for the cassette, however, but have been through several as they last about 5 mins. They are all identical too, regardless of brand
