You need a carbon track pump like you need a carbon bottle cage. You don't. But hey, doesn't it just look fantastic? Twice as expensive as anything else here, the carbon Air Tower is a giant.
A huge 550cc capacity from the dual stroke barrel means that you'll hit 100psi in just 9 strokes. Above 80psi you just can't push that enormous plunger, so there's a footswitch on the base to go into high pressure mode. The gauge gets a flash carbon face and is top mounted, hose reach is good. The dual head is okay, but it's a bit leaky in use. The base is the major disappointment though. A £150 pump is no place for a plastic base. It's really slippery, and flexes more than some pumps a quarter of the price. There's a lifetime warranty if you break it though. Overall the impression is of form before function. It's not a bad pump, but for this kind of money we want it to be the best, not just look the best. And it's not.
