Every keen cyclist should have a track pump. Choose right the first time and you won’t need to buy again. Lezyne's Steel Floor Drive pump has a lot going for it.

It’s well built – with an alloy foot, a steel barrel and a steel piston – stable and has a gauge that goes up to 160psi. We like the solid feel and the stylish lacquered handle. 

The extra-long (120mm) hose is ultra high quality and features a beautifully made chuck that’s compatible with both Presta and Schraeder valves.

It takes 18 strokes of the 53cm-long handle to get a 23mm tyre up to 100PSI. It’s not the quickest to use, as you need to screw the pump’s head onto the valve stem to prevent leakage.

It stays on securely, however, and means you’re less likely to damage the Presta inner valve. It also means you can use it when only a little of a Presta valve is exposed, where other pumps would struggle.

You do have to dismantle the head when swapping between Presta and Schrader tubes, though, so it may not be the ideal pump if you regularly use both types.

The Steel Floor Pump is rebuildable, so you can keep it in good condition. It also has a surprisingly accurate pressure gauge. It's available in red, black, silver or yellow.
