Pedro's top pump proves pretty quick to get tyres up to pressure, and has a mostly metal and wood construction – the oak handle in particular proved both comfortable and popular.

The feet, though quite small, make for a surprisingly stable platform, though we would like to see a slightly bigger gauge, especially as it’s mounted at the bottom of the pump’s barrel.

Overall, though, this is another high quality pump, with good looks and a great feel. But at this price range it’s up against some serious opposition.

Simon has been cycling for as long as he can remember, and more seriously since his time at university in the Dark Ages (the 1980s). This has taken in time trialling, duathlon and triathlon and he has toured extensively in Asia and Australasia, including riding solo 2900km from Cairns to Melbourne. He now mainly rides as a long-distance commuter and leisure/fitness rider. He has been testing bikes and working for Cycling Plus in various capacities for nearly 20 years.
