The Airplus has an unusual design, with the chuck being placed several centimetres from the end of the barrel rather than right at the end. And compared with some of the other frame-fitting pumps it did take longer to get up to pressure. But we were testing the 16in model, the shortest of the four sizes available.
In spite of this we found it very effective, and that it stayed comfortable and easy to use all the way, with a good grip possible at both ends. It has a claimed maximum pressure of 160psi – which we reckon would require some lung-busting exertion on your part to reach – and didn’t feel like one of the toughest pumps on trial. But the Airplus still represents pretty good value.
