"The pump’s clever design is matched by excellent performance. A little pricey, though"

Most companies’ track pumps come in a handful of sizes to cope with different frames. But Park Tools’ designers have come up with a neat creation to allow its PMP-5 pump to fit virtually all bikes from 17-22in. This is achieved using a series of nine notches in alternate sides of the handle.

The large flip-out handle provides excellent grip, though the plastic material is hard and not that comfortable – you’re best off using gloves. The pump’s clever design is matched by excellent performance. There’s a high quality valve head, a reassuringly chunky metal locking lever and the sort of build quality you’d expect from Park. It’s a good pump but it does cost a little more than the best of its peers.

  • I'd liked to have tried this pump, but it can't make use of the pump peg on my new bike and so it would get in the way of a water bottle fitting instead.

Also, a bit off-put by the knuckles warning. It's bad enough getting a P without bashing your knuckles as well!

The one-size-fits-all concept is clever but all my bikes are the same size so I guess it's more about keeping production costs down.

    It's the Zefal for me.

  • this is the best pump i've ever tried so far. i do like the flexibility as my bikes do consist of standard and compact geometries. and it pumps up tires to pressure in no time.

  • Fantastic pump. The cunning 'fits any bike' idea is great and the quality is exactly as you'd expect with Park stuff. Only had 1 puncture since buying the pump and it performed exactly as needed.

  • Top bit of kit. My last one hit the road and the pump head cracked. Park sent me a new one from the US free. Clever design means it fits my sloping and straight frames and mtb

  • Has any used this pump on a carbon frame (Madone 6.2) a wide curve between the top, steering and down tube? I happily mix traditional with modern!
