Topeak Propshock (09) | $73.68
BikeRadar verdict
"Shock that's also an emergency get-you-home fix"
This little beauty is a shock pump capable of up to 300psi complete with a bleed valve, although it lacks a gauge.
It also doubles as an emergency strut to replace a blown shock. It has a neat tool for removing mount bushes from your shock and is adjustable for length. Genius.

A shock pump without a guage is completely useless as a shock pump.
I'm surprised you let a couple of gimmicky features trick you into giving an otherwise overpriced pump 4.5 stars.

I half agree with Elmer.
I think this is a superb idea, but what were they thinking omitting the gauge?

wouldn't using that void any frame warranty

Is this a pump or shock review??? And how do you pump? Bounce on your bike???
I supposed it's only meant as a temporary shock when you blow the other one. Which makes it burly for a replacement you need once every 5 years or so...

No gauge? What the hell use is that as a shock pump?
"Genius." I think not.

at £45 how can you complain?...take one on holiday with you...saves a wasted holiday if your shock dies on the first day!
As for one gauge...come on, you can set up a bike without one!...surely everyone knows how to do that? and it saves on cost and weight!
As a get out of jail free card its got to be worth it !

TJ, it's a strut, not a replacement shock according to the descript. If I blew the shock on the first day, I wouldn't ride all week on a strut. I would think it's more of a get you home trick (like filling a tyre with grass or fixing a broken derallier buy shortening the chain so the bike still rins singlespeed rather than a fix that you would ride on for days.
needs a gauge you can't set up suspension properly without one

I know how much SAG is needed for my Fox RP23 in mm. It's easy and no gauge is need!

You don't really need a gauge. If you know how much sag you need the gauge is really just a rough guide. I've got a tiny shock pump I take riding with me, in case I want to fiddle with my settings mid-ride. I have a shock pump with a gauge at home I use to set the bike up initially and scribble down the settings. I think the only time you'd need a gauge is on a dual air spring like the Rockshox Reba/SID/Revelation or the new dual air monarch. Although I would say the ability to replace a blown shock is far more useful than a shock pump with a gauge, I wouldn't use it more than a get-you-home emergency measure. I very much doubt it has any rebound damping at £45!

What next carrying a spare “get you home” bike frame! This is one of those products that has a use for someone but I haven’t a clue who! Unless Mark Beumont decides to tour the world on a full susser.
