Lezyne Port-a-Shop tool kit review

BikeRadar verdict
"Comprehensive yet compact travel tool kit with nicely designed pieces that set it apart "
Shopping partners
Most full tool kits you buy come in as big a case as possible to convince you you’re getting loads for your cash. This cunning kit from Lezyne is usefully compact, thought, and still fully loaded.
The case is a roughly A5-sized durable Cordura ‘book’ with zipped closure and neoprene sleeves for the tools. The tool selection is usefully comprehensive and high-quality too.
You get a full Torx key set, straight and hooked Allen keys and screwdrivers and 8 and 10mm wrenches in three ‘penknife’ tools. There are combined pedal spanners/bottle openers/steel tyre levers as well as plastic ones, conventional and glueless patch kits and a small but well-designed chain tool.
As with most Lezyne tools they’re all well designed and easy to use, the only niggle here being the plastic tyre levers, which struggled with really tight tyres. Lezyne’s metal versions are much better.
You’ll have to add freewheel and bottom-bracket bearing tools if you need them, but at least you’re not paying for old obsolete stuff like headset or cone spanners.

'Labelled pockets' - give me a break... What do they say - 'Put over-priced tools in here'.
Buy tools for half the price elsewhere and give the rest to a charity!

Don't tell Shimano that cone spanners are obsolete!

The Pinkster has a point, just because most other manufacturers have switched over to the cheaper and heavier push fit bearings doesn't mean they are better.
Shimano bearings are high quality, silky-smooth, light, easily maintained/replaced and super reliable.
Loose bearings and cones do not involve rocket science, they are more trustworthy, have lower rolling resistance and are more robust than standard industrial bearings set in races (which have fewer/smaller/more heavily streesed bearings).
Shimano shows it's design lead and standing in the business by not jumping on the "bearing-bandwagon" and sticking with the most mature and best bearing system.
I don't think cone spanners will go away soon.
