First look: Mongoose; GT; Schwinn cruiser; Sugoi

Sugoi's new HOV range is aimed at urban riders and commuters looking for a more casual look.

  • Mongoose has added the red-and-white Teocali Super paint scheme it first showed off at last year's Interbike show.
  • GT says its new Fury carbon downhill bike is not only stiffer but much, much stronger than its aluminium predecessor.
  • The monocoque front triangle uses particularly thick-walled carbon tubing for impact resistance.
  • The reinforced down tube underside is also somewhat V-shaped to deflect debris off to the side, rather than take a more potentially damaging direct hit.

  • Likewise, the pedals easily remove for more compact storage - or a quick theft deterrent.
  • The high-end spec includes a Shimano Alfine 8-speed internally geared rear hub.
  • Sliding dropouts make for easier chain tension and brake adjustments.
  • The rigid fork doesn't seem to be especially light but it's stiff and gets the job done.
  • Schwinn has updated its cruiser line with fresh new lines and swoopier styling.

  • Colour-matched chain guards, rims, and fenders enhance the look.
  • Sugoi launched a new RSE line that slots in above its long-standing RS range.
  • The new chamois is thinner and firmer-feeling and also adds vents at both ends.
  • Both men's and women's RSE bibs will be available, the latter with a small buckle up top to pull the straps together.
  • The matching RSE jersey is purpose-built for hot weather.
  • The RSE jersey's ultralight Gobi fabric is ultralight and looks to allow for lots of airflow.
