Polaris Scandium Jacket | $178.99
BikeRadar verdict
"Great fitting jacket that’s ideal for British riding at a good price"
Polaris’s new Scandium jacket is really well cut. The sleeves are exactly the right length, the collar doesn’t rub and the drop tail is long enough without looking like a pair of your nan’s pants.
It packs in a lot of features as well as being a good fit though.
It’s manufactured from Hydrovent Active material, which is fully waterproof yet breathable – ideal for the average British weekend. It fastens tight enough to keep you warm but you never get that ‘boil-in-the-bag’ feeling. We were happy just to wear a base layer underneath it.
There are also good sized, easily accessible vents under the arms, velcro cuffs and drawstrings for the helm and collar.
The Scandium has a few reflective strips, although you could hardly call its slate grey colour ‘high-vis’. We liked the stealth look, though, and it passed the ‘casual wear down the pub’ test easily.
In short, the Polaris Scandium is a great jacket. It’s light enough to be stuffed in a hydropack, waterproof enough to cope with all but a tidal wave and fits well.
