Available with 170mm or 175mm arms, 32/22 or 36/24-tooth rings plus bashguard and in triple format for both nine- and 10-speed drivetrains, the hollow carbon Race Face SIXC cranks are seriously stiff, seriously light and seriously costly.
It’s essentially an all-mountain setup for those who feel that they don’t need the bonus durability of fat axles for heavy landings. The noticeable stiffness means power transfer is superb, but there’s still enough shock absorption to take the sting out when powering across rock gardens; heavy-duty downhill-specific cranks can be far more punishing.
The chainrings are tough and impressively clean shifting, and Race Face’s recent bottom brackets are proving to be very durable. Slide-on rubber end caps where the cranks are prone to rock scuffs give some protection and are easy to replace if they get damaged. Cost is similar to many other top-end carbon cranks, but you'll need to buy adaptor cups if your frame is designed for a BB30 bottom bracket.
