Shimano Saint Brakes Review - BikeRadar

The new Shimano Saint four-piston brakes are the most exciting feature of the recently revamped Saint groupset. 

Over long descents they are brilliantly consistent with no pump up or fade, all due to the use of high volume hydraulic hoses.

The lever has a positive feel and great single-finger braking action, which is perfect when you’re riding flat-out downhill and all your other fingers are engaged trying to keep you on the bike. 

The modulation was spot on and the power was phenomenal, giving you huge confidence when riding steep, technical or flat-out trails.

The new brakes boast 50 per cent more power than the previous Saint brakes. Our testing at Whistler Bike Park showed that not only is the power there but it sticks around  through long descents and constant heavy braking.

The dual diameter four-piston callipers include one larger and one smaller set of pistons, which Shimano say increases modulation and vastly improve pad lifetimes. 

The lever also features Servo Wave technology and a tool-free reach adjuster that’s really useful for on-the-fly tweaks.
