Spank Royala Stick Bar | $68.81
BikeRadar verdict
"Ultra cool bars and stem combo with great feel and reliability"
Spank are a company that have quickly made a name for themselves in the classy upgrades market. They go completely against the grain here with the trashy-yet-cool gold theme – which, at the very least, will make sure that you stand out on the trails and parks this summer!
The stem is a simple unit with twin 4mm pinch bolts on the steerer clamp, and four 4mm bolts on the bar clamp. We do prefer 5mm bolts – the ham-fisted will make light work of cocking these up though, we guarantee it – but they remain neat and functional for most of us more careful riders. The 50mm length and 31.8mm clamp design are fine for most, but the slim line width does give a little flex if running full width bars.
The bars are available in 30 and 50mm rises, and come with a 700mm width, 5-degree rise and 8-degree bend, which feels quite straight and new school. We ran the 30mm rise bars which, combined with the stem and the straight feel, put us in the favoured ‘Sam Hill’ elbows-out stance.
