KCNC Cassette (MTB) (10) | $244.95
BikeRadar verdict
"Very lightweight; more durable and cheaper than you’d expect"
The new titanium/scandium/aluminium cassette from the CNC machining wizards at KCNC weighs an amazing 165g – 60g lighter than the equivalent Shimano XTR and costing just £13 more.
Shifts under load aren’t bad, with downshifts smoother than upshifts. We never quite dialled out a fluffed shift somewhere on the block, but we think it works well enough for the start line.
So the killer question is: will the cogs last? A gear masher will kill it quickly, but on a race-day wheelset under a smooth gear spinner it will last and last.
We’ve been using it every day for four months – and trying quite hard to break its teeth – and the level of wear is negligible.

Well worth getting. Shifting is fine with a bit of tension meddling. Coating doesnt seem to last as long as the Token ones though.

175 pounds ans it's cheaper that we'd expect??? Wish I had that budget for a cassette!

Ive bought quite a few KCNC products(seat post, chainset, jockeys wheels, skewers and also seatpost clamp) of late and im so impressed with the quality of machining, the style and performance of the kit they produce. CLEE cycles are great to deal with. They have also built me pair of new wheels with Tune hubs CX ray spokes and Olympic rims.Im well impressed all round when my cassette wears out i will certainly fit one of these.

I'd happily recommend KCNC equipment to anyone. I too have a few KCNC parts (seatpost, stem, bars, headset, skewers, jockey wheels) and they are all top quality. Companies such as KCNC are often overlooked in favour of more popular brands who churn out inferior products which don't have the build quality, often weigh more and are twice the price. If I had a spare £175 I'd have one of these cassettes over the XTR any day.

its race stuff clearly so probably not overpriced in one sense- i personally have just bought a sram cassete for £30 but thats all i need for my type of riding. its all relative. i saw a rear mech for a tri bike that was about £900. mental . this looks fecking shiny though!

Thing is, you can get a brand new XTR cassette off ebay for £100 and CRC usually have them on offer at a similar price. £62 saving vs 60g? think i know where my cash will be going!

60grms is essentially feck all. i piss more than that before a ride, but it is clearly aimed at people who have to much time/money/lack of social life and a serious scales relationship. cut the bit of your seapost you dont need im sure it would save 40-50g anyway not slating the product. everyone has different ideas of whats cool/required. would rather buy an xt cassete kive with an extra 40grams and buy a nice set of tyres orr an extreme light .
