"Stealthy carbon wonderfulness for those not afraid to be a bit different"

By Ric Mclaughlin

Any carbon full face helmet is always going to be judged against the now iconic Troy Lee Designs D2. Scott knew this, and their latest offering bears more than a passing resemblance to the benchmark but does things in a more technical and subtle fashion.

Pull it on, and at first your head feels too far forward, but pull it down tight and it feels custom fitted. That’s down to a V-shaped piece of nylon that runs from the top to the back of your head. It works with the adjustment system to effectively fit the helmet to your skull when tightened. Clever.

Lateral vision on this is better than the D2 too, because it is cut further back to accommodate a wider range of goggles.

Looks-wise, you’re either in the subtle and stealthy camp, or the loud and lairy brigade. We like the fact that Scott have left things to a minimum, as the carbon is beautiful and it’s easier to sticker up to taste.

As far as strength goes, I’ve personally stuck this into some of Ireland’s hardest pine trees at decent speeds and it’s yet to show much more than a scuff in the lacquer as a result.
