Beaumont wins UK National 4X Series opener

The first stage of the UK National Points Series took place at Chicksands on the weekend, with a record entry of riders and two hundred qualifying runs before the quarter finals started.

The trail designers at Chicksands Bike Park got the track into great condition for the race, with a new extension to the track plus a 180 degree flat turn, which made for some exciting last corner moves and saw a few riders cop a mouthful of sand.

In the Elite race, professional rider Scott Beaumont (Rocky Mountain) took the honours, ahead of Martin Ogden  (Ram Bikes), and Duncan Ferris (DMR). Podium finishers won prizes from Hayes, Halo Wheels, Spank, ODI Grips, FSO Sun glasses, DX Pedals, bars and stems from Madison and custom-made Hope Trophies for the top three.The next round and the British 4X Championships are on Saturday and Sunday  May 17 and 18 in Bridgnorth Shropshire.
