Halfords to sponsor Great Britain Cycling Team

By Matthew Cole

British Cycling today announced that Halfords is to sponsor the Great Britain Cycling Team, and it will be the first time a commercial logo has been worn on team kit.

The move extends Halfords’ involvement with the British team, having sponsored the road squad (Team Halfords-Bikehut) earlier this year. The new deal covers the entire cycling team.

The British team is currently in training for the Track Cycling World Championships which take place at the Manchester Velodrome at the end of this month, where they will compete for qualification points for the Beijing Olympics.

The sponsorship deal also includes a commitment by Halfords to raise the profile of British Cycling and Cycle Sport in the UK, and to encourage more people to participate in organised cycling activities through the Everyday Cycling programme, and through British Cycling organised events.

  • Dunno what to say to this really. I'd prefer it if they spent the money on properly training their staff...
