MRP, world leaders in chain guard tension and technology have developed two new cross country specific impact guards to protect your chainrings and cranks from a battering on the trail.

There’s a guard for triple rings and single rings which consists of a replaceable polycarbonate Skid direct-mounted to a 4mm thick alloy back plate, both of which fit onto any cross country frame.

This looks like an ideal solution to riders who don’t want to sacrifice their big ring, but want some extra protection from trail obstacles like stones or logs. OEM deliveries of the XCG Series begin in April 2008, with aftermarket sales soon following. We’re awaiting prices and a test sample to put it through its paces.
