By Matthew Cole

Two new mountain bike trails have been added to the popular Ae trail centre in Scotland, as well as a new bike shop and café.

A new 13.5 kilometre blue trail, aimed at entry level and intermediate level riders has been added along with three kilometres of upgrades to the red graded, ScottishPower Renewables 'Ae Line'. Improvements include raised wooden trail sections, fast flowing singletrack, berms, jumps and log rides.

Bill Coombes, Ae District Recreation manager for Forestry Commission Scotland, said:

"Around 30,000 visitors visit Ae forest each year to make use of the growing number of mountain bike, walking and horse riding trails. It is also a popular destination for car rallies to be held and the training location for sled dog racing.”
