Still time to enter Steve Worland tribute ride at Bristol Bike Fest

Singletrack, cider and retro gear part of 12-hour event

A tribute ride in memory of Steve Worland, a former editor of What Mountain Bike, will be taking place at Bristol Bike Fest next month, and there's still time to enter if you want to take part.

The ‘Steve Worland Ride singletrack and drink a swig of cider per lap’, will form part of the 12-hour MTB event, Bristol Bike Fest on 8 June – an annual event in which Worland had participated in the past.

Organiser of the Bristol Bike Fest, Mike Wilken, said the memorial cup will become a fixture of the annual mountain bike event and was designed to celebrate two things Worland loved – riding singletrack hard and having a draught of cider.

The event – set up with the blessing of Worland’s partner Jo and daughter Holly – will raise money to buy a defibrillator. Additional proceeds will go to the Psoriasis Association.

Entrants are encouraged to go retro for the event by wearing vintage gear or dusting off any unusual or interesting bikes.

Worland, 58, died on 29 March. Paramedics were called but could not save him.

Riders wishing to take part should visit www.bike-fest.com.
