Into the trees
Some of you will remember the name Paul Lazenby as the whippet thin XC
racer who wrapped up the NPS XC national champions title in 1999 on his
full suspension Marin Mount Vision. While he's hung up his race wheels
he's still riding hard, though you might not recognise him banging
through the woods at Coed Y Brenin on his long travel Norco Six-One.
Paul has always regarded full suspension as the way forward but it
wasn't the racing that got him stoked on the benefits - it was riding
'north shore'. After his first taste of the wood, he was hooked and
shortly after that Paul convinced his father in law to let him loose on
twenty one acres of hilly pine forest down near Henley. Since then Paul
and a couple of mates have turned lumberjack and built tons of flowing
'shore including a 20ft tall section that terminates into a drop
off...This isn't for wimps. We're getting first dibs on riding it in
April when he's finished the skinny sections. Until then, here's a pic
of Paul in beautiful mid Wales.
