By Matthew Cole | Tuesday, Nov 16, 2010 9.30am

Halfords have unveiled their new range of VooDoo mountain bikes which includes four hardtails – one of which is a 29er – two full-suspension machines and two dirt jump bikes.

Designed by legendary frame builder and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame member Joe Murray, the new VooDoo collection,  which also includes three BMXs, will be available exclusively in the UK from March 2011. So without further ado, let’s have a closer look...

Wanga

The high-end Wanga hardtail comes with a RockShox Revelation RL140 fork with 15mm bolt-through axle, Avid Elixir R disc brakes and Shimano Deore XT shifting kit. It'll come in 18in and 20in sizes, and hit the all-important Cycle to Work pricepoint of £999.99.

Canzo

The Canzo is VooDoo’s entry-level full-suspension bike and is priced at £999.99 – perfect for the Cycle to Work scheme. It comes with RockShox’s new Sektor RL 140mm fork up front, with a RockShox Ario R shock with rebound adjust out back. Shimano’s SLX is used for shifting while Tektro’s Auriga Pro disc brakes perform stopping duties.

  • That Wanga's on my wish list already. Great to see a new range of bikes available, my experience of Voodoo thus far has been nothing short of excellent. Luv em.

  • The Zobop's linkages looks almost identical to a Mondraker Dune's.

  • The Zobop's linkage looks no more like the dune's than it does any other rocker link, it's certainly not a floating pivot like the Dune.

Please don't associate this (yet another brand which Halfrauds will ruin) with somthing like the mondrakers.

  • UnivegaDrew, don't confuse Halfords' profiteering and refusal to train, motivate or pay their staff properly with the quality of some of the bikes they get their hands on. Some of the GTs are excellent, the Boardmans are pretty cool, their own Carreras are great VFM, and the Voodoos are amazing bikes............that's why WMB, MBR, and the rest give them such rave reviews. What interests me is the Zobop is at the spec level that the Canzo was a year or two ago, whereas the Canzo has gone down to entry-level. Am keen to see what testers make of the Zobop frame - the 2009 Canzo frame is one of the best balanced i've ever ridden. Also, what has happened to probably the best and certainly best-value of the lot - the titanium D-Jab?

  • Wedding, couldn't agree more with your comments about the Djab, tis a truly underated frame and I for one am getting a little tired of the Halfords equals crap bikes waffle, I own a boardman and a Voodoo Djab both of which are excellent bikes and I really cant wait to see the new Voodoo range in store. At least try out these bikes instead of condeming them through snobbery. I luv em.

  • Snobbery has nothing to do with it, i worked there for quite a few years, i know the bikes and the company extrememly well, if anyone is in a position to give Halfords a bashing, its me!!

  • can anyone spot what wheels those are on the wanga? i would like to get a new hardtail, and that spec is impressive.

  • Alex SX44's on most likely non branded sealed bearing hubs, which halfords wheels apparently are made by formula, same hubs as the boardmans i would think

  • Hi

I am a complete novice and am looking to buy a new bike. I have been looking at the voodoo bantu or the carerra kracken. I have no more money then £400 and i am now leaning towards the voodoo (just like the name better).

any sugestions on the best bike for under £400? The 2 i mentioned are the only ones with hydrolic brakes for that price range.
