Aldi launches multi-sport GPS watch

Budget offering comes with good features and accessories

Garmin, Polar and others need to watch out: Aldi is entering the multi-sport GPS watch market! The budget supermarket's new GPS Unisex watch has an impressive-sounding list of features, for a very enticing price.

The watch comes in three colourschemes and has five different training modes, covering running, cycling, hiking, sailing and a user profile-set one. It also has 23 functions measuring the likes of training time, time, current speed, maximum speed, average speed, lap time, lap number, lap distance, time in training zone, current heart rate, minimum heart rate, maximum heart rate, direction, distance, latitude and longitude, calories and more.

The GPS fuctionality, meanwhile, includes navigation with waypoints and route illustration, and is compatible with several common internet map routing programs.

The watch comes with a chest strap to measure heart rate, as well as a bike mount, a USB data transfer cable and a program for further analysis of your training data. The watch is also three-bar water resistant, has a backlight for night mode, and even packs in a compass.

More details and a video of the watch's features can be found on the Aldi website.

The Unisex GPS watch is priced at £65. We'll be keeping an eye on how well Aldi's entry into the sports watch market fares.
